What is a Playbook?

In football, a play is a close to the ground “plan of action” or “strategy” used to move the ball down the field. Football players keep a record of these plays in their playbook.

A Design Playbook is a collection of design exercises or techniques (plays) that can be used as a template or guide at various points in the product design & development process in order to streamline it or to address specific pain points. It provides techniques for improving communication, strategic & tactical planning and overall product development process.
